Growing Baby

Time flies.
Zyan is already 2months plus now. Next week, he will be 3months old.

Life has been pretty interesting since his arrival, not to mention the topsy-turvy schedule with him around.

It has been pretty much the same everyday.
The day can start as early as 1am, for his night feed. His appetite varies, sometimes he needs 2 nightfeeds.
Usually he will wake up about 5+am to play, and won't want to sleep until almost 7am.
No prize for guess who is his playmate though.

Then it would be time for work.

Work has been pretty hectic for the past few months. It's slightly better for last 2 weeks, but I guess things would pick up again soon.

When back home after work, it's to entertain him around when he's awake, and feed him when he's hungry.
But the joy of entertaining him is simply wonderful. :)
Especially when he throws that mega-watt smile at you. Awwwww...

And then the cycle continues after his last feed before he sleeps.
So that's what they do; eat, play, sleep, eat, play, sleep, poo, eat, play sleep
He's getting big.

We haven't really brought him out that much yet.
Mostly is to go to the PD for his scheduled jabs, or go see doctor when he's sick. Lately, we bring him for baby massage, to help him clear the winds within his tummy, and that he can sleep better, so that we can sleep better! :P

The only time we really brought him out was early this month. Brought him to Simei Eastpoint Green for a walk.
We also one kind, didn't bring the stroller along, so we had to lug the 7kg boy around the places.
Training up our muscles.

That's the only picture taken during that outing.

Of course, the other place would be to visit my mother during the recent Mothers' Day, so that the little boy can enjoy the companies of all the other uncles/aunties, and lots of other cousins.

See? My mother makes funny faces, so Zyan had to do the same in the other direction!

Well, when he gets bigger, there'll be more places to visit.

Phone Ring

Early this morning, my mobile phone rings. I answered.
Hmmm. 4.30am.

Not really good to receive phone calls in the middle of the night.

My mom was on the other line. She said she's in hospital, and feeling very uncomfortable on her tummy.
As usual, her tone would be like, hmmm..... how shall I describe that, very uncomfortable. hehehe

She told me to go to hospital to look for her, and before doing that, go to her place and take her medicine, so that the doctor can have a look at her current medicine prescribed.

Oh well, of course kanjiong right? Midnight calls.
So I went to my brother's place. Call his home, no one answered. Call his mobile, never pick up. I mean, who would want to pick up calls in middle of night?
Just me? :P

What to do? I have to 'break into' his home. Details of it shall not be mentioned!
heh heh heh.

So I brought the medicine to hospital, took a while to find her.
At that time, just nice the doctor was around.

It seems like she had some bad stomach for the past 2 days, and decided that it is severe enough to go hospital in the middle of the night.
They gave her some jabs, and needed to do some X-ray just to check.
So she was left under observation for a few hours, while I, don't know what to do, went around looking for food for breakfast.

It was only close to 8am, that my mom called, and said she can go home.

So all is well, and I drove her home, and then back to see my little Zyan.

At least, last night was one night that both my mother and Zyan disturbed me for my sleep. :P

只是, 现在;
今天, 是你在我们生命中的第八十天...

Zyan's Baby Shower

Time flies.
It's been a month since Zyan is born.

We had a small full month celebration for the little boy.
Small, because our house is pretty small. :P

Actually, Karinna came up with a long list of guests initially. Hmmmmmm. Like 120 over or so!
Felt like doing up our wedding guests list. hahaha

Too many, so she had to trim down a little on the list. Rather, quite a fair bit.
As for me, I only invited a few girlfriends along. No boyfriend! I am normal! :P

So the day started busy.
We need to send our dogs away, else they would be too barky with the stream of guests coming to our place. We put at a friend's place. So kind of her.

Then by 1145hrs, the food was setup, and the first guest appeared around 12noon.
Not bad.

Once that starts, the people keep coming in, and our house was soon packed.
Not enough sitting place for sure, and sorry to those guests that have to make-do with standing around.

As with most baby shower occasions, the little main cast was well-slept throughout, only wake up occasionally for food and attention.
Maybe he just wanted to show the guests how angelic he is.
When the guests were gone, he was back to his colicky behaviour. :D

After the last guests left, we were all pretty tired as well. I think that is normal.
So we rested a while, and after dinner, went to pick the 2 little rascal dogs back.

Well, the challenge is coming. After tonight, the confinement nanny won't be around anymore.
It is then up to the 2 blur blur parents to work. :P

Cup Feeds

It's been a few days since Zyan came back home.

Life has been blissful when we were still at hospital.
Life has been interesting since we came back home. Need to wake up in the middle of the night to feed crying baby.
Need to check baby if he had done his pee or poo.

Well, it is good that we got the confinement lady to come on the day of discharge from hospital.
Otherwise, I think it will be quite a mess at home.

Being a big baby boy, he needs to eat a lot.
Initially, the lactation nurses told us to feed 30ml, then 40ml the next day, and the 50ml the day after.
So we were quite obedient. I think first 2 days still alright, but yesterday and today, I think the amount of milk given to Zyan is not enough.
He keeps wailing for more. :P
Why milk? Because for this big boy, the breast milk currently available is not enough. He needs to be supplemented. haha

So when doing milk-feeds, the nurses say do cup-feeding. This is to simulate the baby to suckle for breastfeeding.
And, more importantly. this task is to be assigned to the Daddy.

So here I am, feeding Zyan whenever I can when he needs milk.
See me in action, and Zyan chups for the milk. :)

Back Home

Karinna was discharged from Thomson Medical Centre yesterday.
So was Zyan.
Both were doing well, so doctor said can go home.

Although we were expecting to be home only today, it's still ok, and probably better to be at home too. More comfortable yeah?

So I had to call the confinement lady, and told her to come down to our home yesterday, instead of today.
Kinda rush for her, but she still made it at our home at around 6pm.
Alright!

So we were all more or less set, though not quite there yet. ehhehe
After all, both of us also blur like sotong, just go along with it.

Zyan cry, we try to feed him, or check his diapers.
Actually, forgot about the diapers until much later, and shall not describe the scene at the diapers. :P

As for feeding, the intention of breast-feeding is there, but the execution has problem, as the milk factory is not fully functional yet. :D
So while trying to stimulate the factory to operate normal, Zyan has to help his mommy to build the foundation for the milk factory operation.
Meanwhile, his daddy has to use Enfalac A+ and do cup feeding for his baby.
Cup feeding is to be done by daddy, so the lactation consultant says.

It's kinda cool to feed my own baby. He's a greedy boy, and probably due to his size, seems to be always hungry.
He 'chups chups chups' a lot during cup feeding time. Quite funny. hehehe
And mind you, his wailing is mind-boggling as well.

So we have to feed him about every 3-4hours. Had to get up in the middle of the night to cup feed him as well.
Once he's full, he falls asleep almost instantaneously. Wow!

Well, let you guess, is he crying or trying to poo here. :P
