Sleepy Baby ...
Today went to see my little nephew Casper.
Now he's getting bigger already. My mom says he weighs about 6kg now. He's 猪仔. That's what my mother calls him. hahaha
You can check out my flickr to see the few .pictures I took today. :)
Or see the slides here:
Also took 3 short movies of the little boy.
Here's one, see him moves around a bit and then falls asleep:

D-Day
Well well.
The day has come.
My mother-in-law finally returned home from the Medicare centre.
In the morning, went to market to buy groceries with my wife and the maid. Today is the day that probably my house would have home cooked food everyday.
So they bought chicken, for curry chicken. Bought some fish, prawns, blahblahblah.
Looks like a lot of food huh? Lots of $$ too you know.
So my mother-in-law only reached back home about 12+, then have to let the maid be a little familiar with what should be done to assit my mother-in-law in terms of moving around, sleeping area, bathing etc.
Finally, more or less settled already. Rightfully not so difficult also lah. But I have to remove the baby-cage which we installed at the kitchen door, to make it easier for my mother-in-law to move in and out. The dogs now have a little more freedom, but I'll probably put some playpens to keep the dogs out of the living room at nights ...
A little hungry liow.... where's my dinner?

Old Friends
Was waiting for things to complete in between my installation process and other stuff, I was a little bored, and surfed a little of the web.
I don't surf web that often actually, except when I need to look for some things. I mean I don't surf web for fun most of the time.
Anyway, what I did today was looking for old friends. Example, I just googled "SiowKow" and it came out with a number of URLs related to that. Of course, I will always think that I am the original person using that name. Started using that since 1991 actually, at least officially in electronic world. Out of electronic world, my mother sometimes call me that since I was young .... Duh!
Tried to search for a few old chat friends. "Vader" Lee Teng Kiat. Cannot find much, although there's a link about his thesis work. "Hans" Fan Yeng Loon. Found some links of him communicating in forums or some bbs about Beatles stuff, I supposed.
Then search for some JC friends. Managed to find Choon Chew. She's still at TP! So emailed her and voila! It's her!
Also, a bit bored, then started looking for some other recent friends for news. Remember in July, I posted an entry about a friend of mine Evelyn who went to shave her hair for charity. SMSed her to see how she's getting on with her fight on that damn disease.
At least the reply from her looks good.
My Message: Hope you're getting better! Yours kids are cute! Cheers! Kah Chin
Her Reply: Hello! Thanks. I feel good. How r u?
My Reply: As long as u feel gd, I'm gd too! :)
I'm not much of a SMS-person. The message is already very long for me. Karinna can vouch on that!
Well, just hope the next time I talk/SMS/email Evelyn, she has won the battle.

Love In Any Language
Dunno why, but this song came into my mind last few weeks.
So today, made a little search for this song, but couldn't find the version that was sung by local singer Angeline Kong.
Coincidentally, my search landed me onto Edric Hsu's blog, and he also blogged about this song! By the way, he's the man in one of Starhub's advertisement previously. :P
Anyway, here's a version by Sandi Patti. I don't know her though. :P
===================================================
Love In Any Language
Je t'aime
Te amo
Ya ti-bya lyu blyu
Ani ohevet othka
I love you
The sounds are all as different
As the lands from which they came
And though the words are all unique
Our hearts are still the same
Chorus:
Love in any language
Straight from the heart
Pulls us all together
Never apart
And once we learn to speak it
All the world will hear
Love in any language
Fluently spoken here
We teach the young our differences
Yet look how we're the same
We love to laugh, to dream our dreams
We know the sting of pain
From Leningrad to Lexington
The farmer loves his land
And daddies all get misty-eyed
To give their daughter's hand
Oh maybe when we realize
How much there is to share
We'll find too much in common
To pretend it isn't there
Chorus
The rhetoric of government
May keep us worlds apart
There's no misinterpreting
The language of the heart

Maid
Finally, the day has come that my maid has to shift in to my house.
It used to be that she is staying wherever my parents stay, and for the last few months, some arrangement was done to bring her back to my house, in order to take care of my mother-in-law, who will be coming over to my house as of this coming Saturday.
Grammatically, for English lesson, should not make such a long sentence. haha
So yesterday had to bring my maid's belongings over. My house is very crammed! hehe
2 big luggages, one smaller ones, plus lots of plastic bags! :D
Somehow still have to manage the lack of space, but I am sure I will throw more things away!
So from now on, no more house chores for me!
And no more nagging for/from me too! *wink*
And my house is so much cleaner now. Not used to it man!

Blogging
Was watching variety talk show "Shoot 3" (有话就说). Today's topic was on blogging stuff.
Why do people blog?
Just for fun of it?
Just to write things that meant for keeps, and not necessary must share with whole world?
Just to bring some life to other people?
Just to voice out your own thoughts?
Just to make money?
Just to do business?
Whatever the reason, there can be a thousand and one reason to do so, be it blogging or any other things.
Apparently, I was more kpo on the bickerings between Steven Lim and Xiaxue.
Personally, I don't care a hoot of what they write, and I probably only visited Xiaxue's blog once long ago, when blog was not popular yet, and Singnet was having some kind of competition around the region to bring some interest of blogging among netizens.
That's history.
One thing is certain though, on internet, people will tend to be a little more daring, as most people think that they are still quite anonymous on internet. Of course, this thinking is totally wrong. Even if you are not famous (or has that teeny weeny bit of fame as Steven and Xiaxue), internet is such a case that you can be traced.
Then I was thinking to myself. Why did I start blogging?
First post didn't say much about why too.
But I guess I was just bored at that time, in between projects and stuff, so was trying to find something to do. hehehe
That's why there's no special theme here. Snippets of Life.
Sorry. My boring life.
Time to raise the hit counts for Quan Yi Fong and Dasmond Koh! :D

Well, Australia's Got Talent has Bonnie Anderson.
I think I like Connie Talbot the best, but she's the only one who is not the eventual winner. :P

Strategic ...
Received an email and a SMS message yesterday telling me to attend training today!
Don't even know what the training is covering, just go for it. hehehe
Didn't even register for it. Just go there and register on the spot. So exciting.
It turned out to be a training on Strategy Management. Basically, it's a software company that was acquired by SAP. Its potential is the ease with creating Balanced Scorecard, as compared to current tedious way available in SAP SEM. It's called PilotWorks. Previously, a sales enablement training was conducted, but was attended by a colleague of mine.
Anyway, the training this time is a little more technical, with a little fair bit of hands-on with the software.
So by end of this week,I am sure anything to do with PilotWorks will be thrown to me. But seriously, I don't know what the hell it is. hahaha
Have to install it soon for office use. First, need some hardware ... :P

Smell
Basiket.
Was taking MRT to work today.
Was closing my eyes taking 5 (10, 20, whatever ...)
Then the train go until Kallang station there, I smelled something.
Someone farted!
Damn!
Good thing is, the smell didn't linger for too long.
Else I think I will vomit...
I'm not pregnant ok, I just look like I am ...

Doraemon
This week back in Sungei Petani to continue the last bits of the installations.
More or less done already. Just checking on some minor issues where other consultants expected to see things which are not happening the way they expected.
Ahhh.. anyway, not important lah.
So yesterday, from airport, came straight to the factory to do work. Damn on right? hehehe
So when evening time, went back to hotel. No room available! Only deluxe room left! I didn't book room earlier, as usually, this ulu place can almost guarantee a room for you! Wah! Damn suay man!
So I walk to another hotel nearby. Not many. Here only got 3 hotels around. Went to the sister hotel of Park Avenue Hotel. It's called Northern Lodge. Yeah. It's just lodging. Real basic, but damn cheap! Half price of what is being charged at Park Avenue. Well, just for 3 nights, and hopefully last 3 nights here, so I just took it lah. Else have to sleep on roadside how? :P
This morning woke up as usual, then put on my clothes.
Jialat! My pants getting tighter. Tummy getting bigger! Like 小叮当!Doraemon!
Sigh ...

Casper
Yesterday (now already past midnight) was my nephew's full month celebration.
So went over to my brother's home and check out my nephew again.
By the way, his name is Casper.
So cool huh? hehe
Didn't take a lot of pictures though. More lazy than anything lah.
Compare with what was taken during his 1st day and 4th day of birth taken previously, which one cuter?
Me lah. hehehe
So here is a short slide show of Casper Tay!

Who's That Man?
Went to visit my mother in law yet again at the medi-care centre.
Hadn't gone for the past few days, as Karinna was quite busy, and total exhuasted especially yesterday.
Anyway, my mother in law is getting better. Expected to be home by end of the month. Our home.
As about to leave from the place, I stand along the walkway, waiting for Karinna to go towards the lift area.
Overheard some funny conversation, at least to me.
L1: Lady1; L2:Lady2; S:Simon; K:Karinna
L1: There's a man there (referring to me)
L2: Yes! There's a gentleman there. Who is he? (I have been saying bye bye to her almost everytime I leave the place ...)
L1: I don't know! I am also new here! (She's been staying there for the past few years)
S: (Trying to laugh, but cannot. Bluff bluff turn back and look for my wife ...)
L2: There's another man in the room (referring to Karinna)
L1: Oh! Who is he?
L2: Don't know. Maybe he's friend or brother ...
S: (Cannot tahan, want to laugh but cannot ...)
(Karinna walk out...and we walking past the 2 ladies ...)
L1: Hey mister, can we talk to you for a while (she wants to talk to me!)
S: Cannot cannot. Going home already. Late.
L1/L2: Ok. Bye bye ...
The 2 ladies have a little bit of mental problem, so it's not exactly funny to hear such things, but it's funny ... :P

Work, and no work
Today went back to my ex-company HP.
Went to help my colleague who is there to do some project work. Actually, not helping my colleague lah. Somehow, somebody didn't do work properly, so went over to do some stuff, so that my colleague can continue to do his real work.
Too confusing? Let it be. :P
After that, went meet up with ex-colleagues. Kar Fai, Chee Keong, Yvonne, Hui Rong. That stupid Adrian not free to meet me, so, he is idiot lah. hahaha
It's good to meet up people from time to time.
Just nice these 2 weeks a little more free, before going off to Kedah again next week.
Anyway, should be one last trip for me to go Kedah. At least for the installations part. :P
Other than that, nothing major happened. One of the computers in office was affected by some worm virus. Had to remove the virus for my colleague. Sort of reprimanded the guy whom I suspect introducing the virus onto the PC, although I actually do not have hard solid proof. Shouldn't be wrong lah, should be originated from his USB drive.

Teachers' Day
01 Sept. Teachers' Day.
Obviously, I haven't celebrated Teachers' Day for years. Neither am I a student, nor am I the engineer of human's souls (literal translation from 人类灵魂的工程师). hehe
So let me re-collect a little. Who are the teachers that left impressions on me?
hmmmm.... brain cells are dying ....
My first primary school, Bendemeer Primary. There's a Miss Lee, the only one I can remember. When I switched school at Primary 3, I still wrote letters to her, and she replied back too! Other than that, I cannot remember much you know.
My second primary school, Bedok South Primary. I remember a Mrs Leong, I think she is my English teacher in Pri4? She's also the teacher in-charge of gardening club. Yes. I joined gardening club. Go on, laugh. hahaha.
I also find it funny, a group of boys joining gardening club. I think most of the classmates can remember her. Why? I dunno.
I know there's a Mrs Pillay during my Pri6. Actually, come to think of it, my Pri school results, although not Top10 or what, but my grades were all pretty ok. I remembered she once told me she very disappointed in my result, so I made myself study a bit harder to get better grades.
Probably because I was always very talkative and kachiowing people in class, and she thought I could have done better if I concentrate more on studies.
Whatever lah.
My secondary school, Temasek Secondary. Mr Eddie Tan will probably be a name that almost all students during my time will like. A very humourous teacher, Science teacher. He made Science so interesting to me, that at Secondary 1, I was so interested in chemistry that I literally go and find more information on elements and molecules stuff.
My junior colleage, Temasek JC. Hmmm. I had a very hard time in the initial 6 months in JC. During my Sec3/4, I didn't had Physics background, and I took Physics in 'A' Level! First few tests were almost like getting "ZERO" mark!
Thanks to my hard work, and my Physics teacher, eventually I even came out top in my class for the Physics common test! But my classmates terok lah, kena scolded by my Physics teacher because of me. hahahaha
For my university, let's just forget it! :P
For all the teachers out there, my sincerest gratitude towards your contribution in nurturing the young.
