It's Business Objects. SAP newly acquired company.

These 4 days, I am attending this workshop on Business Objects. It's held at SMU, opposite Rendevous Hotel. Since it is not at the hotel, don't seem to have complimentory car park available.

I had to park at Plaza Singapura, where it seems to be the cheapest. I have to walk about 10 minutes to be at the correct SMU compound.

Their compound is sort of disparringly located at different locations around Bugis & Dhoby Ghaut area. Don't know where is the good place for parking though.
Anyway, it costs me about $10 to park for 1 whole day there, so it is still relatively ok considering the location.

Anyway, the workshop is kinda interesting. Learning new stuff is always interesting, but doing the work at later stage might be a different story. hehehe

The user interface, and presentation is simply too cool, way better than SAP's flagship BEx product. However, some of the features are still not as good. Can't really compare, as BEx is quite tightly integrated to SAP products, so it has its advantages there.

Roadmap says that will change, and BO will take precedence as the premium package, above the base package with BEx. So die die also have to learn BO.

There's many software related to that. Crystal Report is definitely one. There's also Web Intelligence, Xcelcius and Voyager. There's also something newly developed called Polestar, but still in some infancy stage apparently.

So many more things to learn. Still have to learn Microsoft's PPS2007, and Qlikview.
Wah piang, becoming like Jack of all trades soon.

Birthday Boy. Hmmm. Old Boy.

Today, I was at one of our customers' site with my other colleagues. I was talking to another colleague over Yahoo Messenger, and she suggested to meet up for dinner with some of the company staff.

Actually, she wanted to give a surprise birthday 'celebration' for Herman, one of the bosses. His birthday happened to be 2 days ago, 01 June.

So the plan was, she would 'need' his help for some of the problem faced at work, and they'll meet up somewhere in Plaza Singapura. Meanwhile, 2 of my other colleagues would have been there to book for some seats at some restaurant.
From my end, I have 4 other colleagues at the project site, and we'll join them at the restaurant.
I had earlier told the 4 colleagues not to hint to Herman of our appearances at Plaza Singapura.

Anyway, we went there after Herman left. We reached there after him obviously, so we are not able to see his 'surprised' face, if any. :D

Dinner was ok. We ate at Pizza Hut.
Then we had a birthday cake, and that Herman shy to have people sing birthday song to him, and keep telling us not to sing song. In the end, the restaurant itself play birthday song, so, none of our business.

Since it's a working day, after the dinner, basically left for home. I then went to pick Karinna home. She was meeting friend for dinner as well.

Centipede

Yesterday, I just posted something about some lavae found on my car.

Well, now there's a new thing. Not my car. My home bathroom!

Karinna just shouted for me a few minutes ago. She said there's a centipede!
Went to take a slipper, and went in to smash it a few times. Actually, I used hot water to 'burn' it a bit before I whacked and whacked and whacked.

After that, just pushed it down the drainage.

Serve it right, such a peeping tom! :P

Dr. Randy Pausch - Last Lecture

Yesterday, an old friend (Francis Pang) sms-ed me, and tell me to go search for "randy pausch last lecture" and look out for a 11-minute video. It's meant to be some sort of motivational and inspirational, talking about achieving your childhood dreams ...

Well, I am a good listener, so I search for it. Should be this:


Sometimes, it is good to take a break, and think about your life.
There may be times that you are just simply lazy, and simply want to waste time away, but on the whole, these should just be a small portion of our life.
It also cannot be such that we are always on the move to engage towards our dreams (if any). Life can be tiring that way, and that in some form, is not a kind of life we all want to live.

Oh well. So much for the incomprehensible crap from ... :P

Butterfly?!?

This was taken from my car few weeks back. It was at the window at the rear seat behind the driver seat. :P

Looks like some lavae that is waiting to be blossomed into beautiful butterfly? hehehe

For the fun of it, at the time, I left it there for about 1 week plus, but doesn't seem to have a lot of happening after that.

Then, after last week's chalet at Changi, I decided the car is too dirty, and needed some cleanup.

This little thing is gone already. :P
