Blue People

Today, while on the way back home, as usual, was listening to Love97.2 Radio Station. They have this segment called "真的吗?", where they will tell the listeners of some 'incredible news', and let listeners decide if what they said is true or false.

Today, they talked about whether listeners believe that there is a tribe of blue skin people living in the world. Of course, before they ask for you to believe, they will weave out some tales (if not true), or reports (if true) for you to decide for yourself the truth in their words.

So the gist of the report is such that there is this tribe of people living in a reclusive area in Kentucky, USA, and the people have blue skin!

Sounds unbelievable.

But it is TRUE! Smurfs are alive! Nah, just kidding. Smurf is still a myth.
Blue skin people, or more known as the Blue Fugates, are very much true!

The Blue People of Kentucky
The Blue People of Troublesome Creek

But the fact is that, no more blue skin people currently in the world, unless he/she has some disorder somewhere.

So much for extra info for the day!

BBQ

This afternoon went to Bhamo Road, Karinna's childhood playground.
Brought my mother-in-law there, as she wants to 'supervise' movers to clear the house. Move out already, so better to clear the house cleanly. :P

Afternoon, sent Karinna to attend her Angel class, then I drove to Sim Lim Square to walk walk a bit.
Didn't really buy anything, but bought an ointment to see if it can help with my occasional back aches. Age is catching up, pain is inevitable. :P

Went to Sook Fun's place around 1740hrs. Expected myself to be one of the earliest, and it was indeed so. Her son, Ryan, is still as hyperactive as ever!

Slowly, some of our friends came along. SiangChuan, ChinKwok, WeiLee, JoiKian, GeokYan. When I left, GeokYan just came only, and that LeeHong hadn't arrived even! I had to leave earlier to fetch Karinna from her class, then went for second round of dinner. See? My tummy is maintained! :P

It dawned on on me that perhaps something can be done to collect contact lists of all former classmates/schoolmates. I am still thinking about it.
One word. Lazy.

LUP

My HDB block is currently undergoing Lift Upgrading Programme.

I wasn't exactly very happy to have it.
Reason being it will NOT be lift landing level. There's no way to make it lift landing level to my door. It's a little hard to describe here, but my block's design is such that the doors are at half-level from the main corridor.
So die die will also have half-level of stairs to the new lift in future.

It's not that I can't climb or what. It's just so stupid, that the decision is to continue the mistake (of not having lift-landing level), although there is some effort in minimising the impact of the old mistake.
And worst of all, it doesn't come cheap. It's more expensive than some other blocks, which do enjoy lift-level landing, all simply because our block is mainly 5-room flat dwellers.
I cannot deny that, most people who would say YES to the LUP, would be the families with old folks at home. Less steps mean less stress on the old people.
If there's any other reason, that family must be crazy. :P

I once even thought of a way to make it lift-level landing to our door-step! But that would a much massive work, which would take years and years probably.
Anyway, it's just my 天马行空 imagination.

So now the lift upgrading has been going on for close to 6 months, and some of the main structures are already up. For my particular unit, it's still playing 'Lego' to build the lift.
Here's it:

Phone Number

Just did something interesting earlier.

Will be meeting some of my OLD friends (I am YOUNG) this coming Saturday. Gonna have a BBQ at Sook Fun's place. Everytime also go there 1, heh heh heh.

Then these people want to look for people whom have long lost contact already. Then I actually nowadays also lazy to call people here and there. Not like last time, got thing no thing also chin chai find people talk talk. :P

So I told them I will go scoop out all my old data (actually, wedding cards of friends who invited me before lah ...), and will try to check out if any of the numbers or email would still valid right now.

Took a while to find Lee Hong's wedding card. Found it, no email in there. Only some numbers. Called her number, not in use any more. Called her husband's pager, obviously in the wrong era already.

Then I called her husband's home number. Must be his parents home. It worked.
Stole LH's hubby's number from his mother, and called.

When he answered, I actually told him: "Ehhh... actually I am not looking for you lah, I'm looking for Lee Hong ..."
D'oh! Cartoon right? Long time no do such silly things.

Anyway, managed to find her! C@@L.

Chatted with her for a while, then shoot off emails to the other people, including LH also lah.

Anyway, not sure who else will appear.
Maybe would be like Joi Kian's CNY gathering like that, 1 palm can count already. :P

We will see ...
See what see ???
Giam cai char loti...

Basis

Over the weekend, I was busy. Not BUSY BUSY, but busy.

Was installing another SAP system, remotely from home.
Wasn't smooth, the system somehow keep stalling after some time, and I have to keep checking and repair the work.
I had to keep doing repair work almost 10 times, and sometimes not sure whether to continue 'waiting' or not.
So I had to constantly give myself a deadline to estimate end time of certain running process, then repair the work if needed.
I have to use all my SAP Basis knowledge to resolve this issue ok!
A bit 夸张, but who cares? :P

And finally, on Sunday morning, managed to get the system installed, and up and running.

However, still have some other problems. Can login into the system, but keep getting kicked out after sometime. No fix timing intervals for that to happen, and no special things happening at that time to be kicked out. It's just so intermittent!

I guess it's some network issues, but I cannot confirm much yet. And it's going to be troublesome to troubleshoot this problem; see how, I'm going to patch the system tomorrow to see if it helps.

If that helps, I'm going to kill SAP systems. @!#$@#$%^Y^%^I^%#@%$^&*$#@^

Lo Hei

Today (actually, technically it's yesterday), went to meet up with the usual group of friends for an annual dinner during CNY.

This year's dinner is a little late, usually we have it within first week of CNY.
Doesn't really matter. It's the company that counts. Catching up for a bit etc ...

This time, dinner was at Peach Garden, opposite Novena Square.
We had YuSheng, Peking Duck, SoonHock steamed fish, some kind of prawns :P, some vege with 豆腐, and some 腊味饭.

Didn't bring my camera, just took an after-attacked YuSheng picture. hehehe

I think probably next time we'll get an old friend to join back.
One which was somehow 'lost' through the years ...

Oto!

Today, there were some delivery made to my home.

On 2nd day of CNY, Karinna and I went back to office for a short while to, more or less, do a bit of 开工大吉. :)

After that, went to VivoCity take lunch, then off to search for foot massager. My mother-in-law was sold to it by one of the relatives, so we were tasked to look around.

In the end, we bought the one from Oto. It's the PowerFoot, the successor of BigFoot.

There was this promotion, top up another $100, you get additional 2 items 'free'.
Partially paid for should be the correct word. Nothing is free in the world.
Except MY LOVE. hahaha

This Titanium seems not so bad, quite power in massaging also. :P

The Eye Rejunvenator, in comparison, is slightly weaker, but it's for the eyes, can't whack your eyes too hard isn't it?

Ahhhhhhh. Time to relax ....

Old Friends

Last Saturday, went to an old friend's place. Joi Kian's family used to operate a coffee shop in Bedok North, near my old home, and every Chinese New Year, somehow, a group of friends will be there either on the 2nd or 3rd day for CNY.

This year, he invited people to his home again. Now at Pasir Ris, no more coffee shop. Actually, almost every year he will ask this group of old friends to his home for gathering, but I had not appeared there for a couple of years already.
This time, I went.

In the end, only a handful appeared. KhengSiang, YouKok, EngWan, and another lady whom I don't know at all.
Quite a bad turnout huh?
Why? Because that idiotic Joi Kian sms people, but said to reply him IF they are not going to his home. If no one reply him, he assumed people coming.
Damn kok right?!??!?!?!

Anyway, in the end, we ended up playing mahjong until 3am. Damn long never play so much mahjong in one session liow. Tired.
And it was one of my worst loss record with playing mahjong.
Lost over 2 hundred... hehehe

Well, still, it's good to meet up with some of the old friends. Probably next year would have better turn out.

From last week till today, I on and off send some emails to old friends as well. Festive greetings!
And yes, always good to see no bounced mail too! :P

Hyacinth II

Our hyacinth actually started blooming on first day of CNY. By evening time on CNY day, most of the petals are already opened.

By second day of CNY, it is already fully bloomed. Cool huh?

Here's a glimpse:

Gong Xi Fa Cai

It's the CNY season!

As usual, first day of CNY, visiting relatives.

In the morning, I went to pick my father from my sister's home, and drove him to my brother's home. Then I went back home, and get ready to 'visit' my parents at my brother's home. :P

Anyway, when I went back home, my brother-in-law and his wife were already at my home. This is the first time they came over, because my mother-in-law is staying with me. They didn't stay long also, time for visiting blahblahblah ...

Went back to my brother's home around 12 noon. As usual, I am always the earliest. The rest of my siblings didn't arrive until 1plus or so.

Centre of attractions would naturally be the 2 babies, Matthew and Casper. hehehe

Some pictures taken on CNY day.

In the evening, we went to visit my wife's relatives. Very far away in Sembawang, just few hundred metres away from Sembawang Park.

Well, CNY ah CNY, just made me poorer lah that's why ...

Hyacinth

Ahhhhhh.

Yesterday besides buying the Fu Lu Shou, we also went to florist to get something.

In the end, got a Hyacinth.

Had wanted to get Narcissus actually, but those available were like bloomed already, so we switched to get something else.

It's a purple coloured Hyacinth. Wait till it starts blooming then I will get some pictures of it.

Eyes

This morning didn't go to work.

Had to bring my mother to see doctor at Raffles Hospital.
She had been complaining about her eyes/nose/tongue problem for a few years, seen many many doctors, but somehow never been able to 'cure' her.

Besides these, she has some other problems as well ... ...

Anyway, brought her to Raffles Hospital, reached there around 11am. Apparently, her friend recommended her to go there. Expensive place eh? :P

Checked her eyes, doctor said her eyes were very dry. Typical index figure for normal person is about 20, my mother's index is only 4! Gosh!
So the doctor suggested putting a kind of plug in one of the 'glands' (not sure if this is the correct medical term for it), to stop the flow of our usual eye moistures (basically tears lah ...) down through the nose and into the mouth area ...

Too chim already eh? Basically, that's the mechanism of fluidity movement in our eyes, and down to our throat area.

So putting the plug there can help to retain these fluid in the eye area, as such, the eyes can be a little less dry.

So knowledgeable huh?!?!?! :)

So now have to observe to see how the progress goes. If need be, there's another 'gland' in the eye (each eye has 2 outlets) that can be plugged. Have to monitor the dryness.

After that, drove mom back home, and then decided too late to go office, so went back home to work from home.
I have a proposal to send today. hehehe

It's CNY eve, not sure yet if we would be heading down to Chinatown tonight.
Hmmmmmmmm ....................

福禄寿

CNY is just a couple of days away!

Today, left office around 5pm, went to Race Course Road to get something.

We had been 'looking around' for one. Saw it the last month or so, but didn't buy at that time.
When decided to buy last week or the week before, it was gone.

So today, I called up the shop, it's was available.

I went there, got the one which they had lacquered it (according to them, the colour can be more lasting ...), tried haggling for lower price, but failed.
Note very light ok. *grumble*

Here it is, the 福禄寿 at my home:

This picture was taken with flash light on it, kinda bright eh?
Next time then take another pic in the day time without flash, maybe look better.

Still got a couple of things to get, but no hurry lah. Taking my time ...

Programming

Yesterday was quite tiring.

I have not done programming work for a long time, and in actual fact, I have never been in programming line. Only did programming work during Uni' days. :P
Actually, just HTML programming and javascript work, not those super chim chim programming.
Me not the solid programmer. Anyhow whack only.

Anyway, there was a requirement from one of our new clients to incorporate the planning layout with some capability to choose reports, somehow. I don't know the full details of it yet. Just gathered some info from my colleague who was having some problem working on that.

So yesterday was mainly whacking my brain with ways to work that. Actually can be very simply if doing simply through web. But with SAP, things can get complicated, and indeed it did.

Initially had tested purely from html, it looks fine. Incorporate it into SAP's in-built web interface with BSP, cannot work.
So have to search around, and re-work many times before it finally can do what I think we had wanted it to be, at least initially.

By then also a bit brain-tired. hahaha

Anyway, the codes are still pretty much weak, and will need more fine-tuning to make it nicer. *shrug*
Somemore, already told customer we are not good at doing all these javascript and html programming work, so they should understand. :P

Don't understand?
Nevermind, I just feel like writing. *bleah*
