Demise

Time now is 4.18am. Just came back from the wake 1/2 hour ago.
Oh yes. That grandma had passed away 2 days ago.

Not that there are lots of things to do there. My mom's friend somehow came around 12 midnight I think, could be 11+, not sure. Talk so much, delay until about 3am then go back. And it is all due to me telling her I will send my dad home first, then she left together.
Piang!

So while waiting for her, I was there folding those incense papers, getting ready for it to be burnt few days later. Else how to pass time?????

Time to sleep, and probably will be working from home before going to the wake again.

Weird

Happen to see this weird stuff on the web earlier.
Not new on the internet though.

Grandma

Went to pick up my mother and sister in the morning to visit my grandmother, who is in Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

This grandmother is my mother's maternal mother, who sold my mom away when she was 4 years old.
Somehow, my mom has been in touch with her real family for years, since young I think. And she does have some sore points about being sold, when few years later, her real parents went to adopt another child.
Kinda weird if you ask me as well.

Anyway, haven't seen this grandma of mine for years. Afterall, the kind of dialect (HengHua) she speaks is really beyond me.

So there we are, looking at her, so frail now. So thin. She can't eat, can't drink, can't talk, and legs are a little stiff.

I held her hand, can feel her hand able to grasp a little part of my palm. I am not even sure if she can recognise any one of us at all.

Rantings

AAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Karinna keeps telling me that our 'turtle' is a 'terrapin', not a turtle.
Ahhhh. At least one of them is a terror.
My ang mo super powDerful, can use interchangeably, cannot meh?

Also told me about the recent photos taken (the terrapin and the seamonkey pics) were too bright, shouldn't have used flash blahblahblah....
Aiyah, don't care lah. I not professional mah.

Yesterday no one striked the Toto prize, now it's snowballed to $5.5million for the next draw. Wah seh. I am going to be rich! :)

That's the way ah-ha ah-ha!
I like it ah-ha ah-ha!

New Pets?

Went to Tampines Mall after visiting my mother-in-law at the HomeCare.
After dinner, decided to go over to Toys'R'Us to look for the SeaMonkeys.

There are a few different packagings there. It's not very cheap ok!
Cheapest is $29.95, and highest probably about $34.95.

After a little deliberation, decided to go for one of the cheaper $29.95 sets.
Don't even know if they will survive under my care .... hehehe

Here's the packaging we decided to go forth:

Will take a few days before the result of this appear ... :)

Bye Bye Mild Turtle

Well, the turtle died.

I deliberate left it in a certain position in the morning before going to work.
When back, it's still in the same position.

What's more, its neck is now a little stiffer already, not as dangling as in the morning.

Probably will get another new turtle. Have to choose a fiercer one, and bite that idiotic turtle dead! :P

Adios, turtle.

龙喆一 - 等你

OK. Another nice song, which probably never aired on radio.

Not able to find the lyrics on the web though. The shockwave flash has it anyway.

Enjoy!

Turtle!

Woke up as usual, first thing is to feed the turtles.
Then I noticed one of them is pretty inactive, like sleeping like that, while the other like hungry ghost, gorging all the food that was thrown in.

Then I took a closer look at the sleepy turtle. Oh-oh! Maciam died like that. Took it out, and its head twirl around depending on how I hold it. Very dead huh? Saw some of its paws were gone, small parts of it. Its rearside had some kind of injury. Probably was bitten by the other turtle lah. The other turtle more aggressive. This sleepy one is a little more mild.

Not sure if it is really dead or not. So I took it out and placed it in another tank.

From the look of it, doesn't seem like it is still alive. Will know tonight when back home.

Tonight will take a picture of it, and load it here. If it is dead, it will be its only picture around.

Scolded

Today is Sunday. Went to my sis house, visit my parents.

I asked my nephews and niece how they fare in the mid-year exam.

One said he failed all! That's BenBen. So nice, I didn't beat him. :D
One said he topped as top 5! For 1 subject. Wowee! That's GeneGene. Actually nothing to be proud of. :P
One said she failed the English Paper2! That's Pauline. Overall still pass though.

Hmmm. Doesn't sound very positive huh? Anyway, as long as they do their best, can liow lah.

Then this Ben was talking (via MSN) to his friend. I then very kaypoh lah, talked to his friend on his behalf also.
Dunno what they talking about, so I just chin chai chin chai talk rubbish also.
Then his friend scolded me!!!!
@#!%$#%^%$&^@$#^^%*&(^*&^$@#^&*

Aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

In the name of jest, heck it! :)

Money Bank

Just did something stupid earlier. Piggy bank.
Nope. I did not break my piggy bank. And my piggy bank is not a pig.
Can't remember when did I have this money bank, and slowly, and I mean really slllllllllllllllloooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwllly put money in there.

Ooooops! Forgot to rotate the image clockwise! :P
So today backside itchy, took it all out and count. Damn heow right?

Basiket, count until sian (although not a lot), only about $130!

Wah liew eh.... a bit the waste time.

So now you see, I am actually very poor.

Any donations please? ;)

Prize

Well, the people did call me after all.

She kept apologizing, but alas, I know that's the only thing that she can do.

Probably that could be part of their standard operating procedure when it comes to such ad-hoc tasks of prize collections. :P

Just a snapshot of part of the letter for the prize. Partially not seen here, have to travel by 31 Jul 2007. :P

With such restrictions, I am not sure how good a time we can sequeeze for the trip! Argh!!!!!!

Don't know can be free by then or not.

Current estimate is the life will get busy from June onwards. hahaha

Lucky!

Yesterday had wanted to collect the lucky draw prize of air tickets to Bangkok, after the air-con servicemen come to clean the aircons. But I forgot.

So today, rather, just now, went to Eastpoint Mall Management Office at Eastpoint Mall of course, to collect it.

Guess what?

Only 1 man was in office, and he was not in charge of anything to do with the lucky draw. Those were taking care of it had ALL gone out for meeting with their boss.

What a crap.

The letter says to collect on Monday to Friday, 9am to 12pm or 2pm to 5.30pm. It never says you have to call to make sure people is around to help you redeem your prize.

It's quite hard to imagine a management office to falter on such simple things. Might as well say come and collect to see if your luck is still good? :P
ka na sai.

So no choice have to leave without collection lor. What to do right? Even if they are not in service line of work, but in having informed people of collection details, should at least make sure you adhere to it to avoid inconvenience.
No comment on their management further.

Now, will see if they will call me. Left my mobile number with the guy there, who said will pass to the person in charge.

Good luck to me! :)

New stuff

Well, just added some things on my blog.

First, added some javascript to play music, if the link to the file is available.
The first to have that is the "Rain and Tears" song, which was put here a few days back.
Of course, these music files are not mine. Just happen to find them, and link them here for listening pleasure.

Second, added the snapshot view for links, such that people can have an almost instant preview of the links provided.

Anyway, these are not new stuff on the net. Has been there for a long time, and I am not those that are very keen in using all these things.

Just try try. I am doing IT work one you know? hehehe

Sea-Monkeys

Never knew what is sea-monkeys until I saw Mr Miyagi's blog (http://www.miyagi.sg) today.

Never heard of it, never see before also. It seems like it has existed for a long time already. hmmm

Did I miss anything when I was young?

Perhaps I will also get 1 pack and try. Looks kinda interesting.
Well, with 2 dogs now, and 2 red-eared tortoises, should be ok with this additional sea-monkeys right?

I'll see, if I ever put that thought into action. :D
Interesting.

By the way, I haven't officially introduced my pets here in my blog. Next time ... :)

Water Retention

When Karinna came back from US last Sunday, she was somehow quite swollen. Water retention everywhere, legs and hands more so.

So she went to see doctor on Monday, got some medication, took some blood test, and was told to go back for review on Wednesday.
Wednesday, which is yesterday, got another jab, but I don't know the result of the blood test.

Anyway, doctor prescribe another medicine, Furosemide, which is meant to help dispel water from the body. How interesting.
http://www.medindia.net/doctors/drug_information/Furosemide.htm
And mind you, this medicine cannot be bought just over the counter. The clinic didn't have it, neither does the polyclinic. Went to Guardian pharmacy with her yesterday night to get it.
Though it's expensive?
Nah, $0.38 per pill. Consumption is half a pill per day in the morning.
Why morning? Meant to let you pass water out. Surely don't want to keep going to the loo in the middle of the night do you? :P

She just told me she got headache, not sure if it's the side effect, or just her usual job-headache which she has all the time.
So poor thing. *sayang*

Upgrade or Re-implementation

Let's be boring today.
Indeed.

Went to customer site with partner to talk about upgrade to Netweaver 2004s. So boring right?
Well well, probably doing re-implementation rather than upgrade.

I think it's better too. Too many changes for the upgrade, which will make the functional upgrade side having a little tad more problem. Need to migrate old infoproviders to 7.0 version, need to change authorisation to the new analysis method, need to loading processes are switched to the new way as well. What's more, most of the stuff are quite customised, as was told. So, going by the re-implementation is what I prefer.

Still in quite an infancy stage, not sure how much time can be spent on this project. Looks like have to do quite a large bit of scoping to get a better feel.

Well, see how. :P

Rain And Tears

Aphrodite's Child – Rain & Tears

RAIN AND TEARS

Rain and tears are the same,
But in the sun
You've got to play the game.

When you cry in winter time,
You can pretend
It's nothing but the rain.

How many times I've seen
Tears coming from your blue eyes.

Rain and tears are the same,
But in the sun
You've got to play the game.

Give me an answer of love,
I need an answer of love.

Rain and tears in the sun
But in your heart
You feel the rainbow waves.
Rain and tears both I shun,
For in my heart
There'll never be a sun.

Rain and tears are the same,
But in the sun
You've got to play the game.

Three Wishes

Since I was talking about TV shows in earlier posts, might as well add on another.

On Sundays, 10am, TV5, there's a show called "Three Wishes". Of course it's an ang moh show lah, I mean from US lah. :P

This show basically moves the TV crew from state to state, and from each location where they decide to stop-by, they will choose 3 families to grant each of them 1 wish. It can be almost anything, but of course, no body will ask to pluck the star from the sky.

Sound simple?

A lot of times, the wishes are so endearing and touching, and it is actually very heart-felt warming to watch how the crew go all their way to help make those wishes come true.
And the families who benefited from the wishes, you can really see what happiness really means all the time.

Mind you, you should always have tissues around with you if you watch it. Can almost, if not always, guarantee that you will tear each time you watch the show.

Of course, after the show, as usual, and always, I forgot about all the touching scenes, and get on with my mundane life. Probably same goes for 99% of people. :P
I think we should still watch it. Very very nice. Like me. :) *wink wink*

I wish to strike Toto, and retire, and just do the things I want to do.
That is, do nothing. Ha ha ha.

Deal or No Deal

This show is starting tonight.

We first saw this in Japan while we were holidaying there a month ago.
Of course, everything is in Nippon lingo, which we cannot understand a thing at all.
Only see them decide to go for deal or no deal, and the happiness/frustrations they have after the decision. :P

The game is very simple. You choose 1 box out of 26 boxes. Each box has a certain dollar value inside.
With the box chosen, you choose another box. From here, you'll be offered a figure which may entice you to give up the originally chosen box (assuming second box is of higher value to the original box). The ante may be upped according to the value of boxes that have been opened, and whether the big money value is still hidden among the unopened boxes.
Sound confusing? hehehe
Not my problem.

It's just a simply a choice of deal with the offer given, or no deal, and proceed to pursue for your original box value.

For Singapore version, the highest dollar value is $250,000.
Not bad huh?

Probably will watch for the fun of it, if no nice shows to watch. :D

Find Me A Singaporean

Watched this variety show a few times. Strictly speaking, it's not really variety show lah.

稀游记. So aptly titled.

Though I won't say that Belinda Lee is a very good host, but somehow I feel that she's doing well for this show. Just how I feel, which doesn't carry any weight at all anyway. :P

I think next week's episode looks interesting, at least from the trailers provided.

Worth watching.

Lazy

Haven't been updating the blog actively for the past week.
Lazy.

Think the lazy bug is creeping in soon.

Just quickly flipped through Feng Shui World magazine, it says this month not so good for me. Next month looks brighter.
Maybe lah, now sky a bit dark, going to rain soon. :P

By the way, Karinna is coming back soon. Went US for a week for meeting.
There goes my freedom soon! haha

Dunno got present for me or not when she comes back tomorrow.
*yawn*

Blur!

Today I drive to work. Karinna went US for work, back only this coming Sunday. Aiyo, miss her leh *blush*

Anyway, think I was dreaming, drive along ECP then exit into Prince Edward road, like going Karinna's office like that. Terok siah.
Somemore before 10am, got ERP you know!
So quickly siam out to try to drive into Marina South. Now got new road to go from Marina South into ECP mah. Last time the only way is to get into ECP for Changi Airport, or goes into Anson Road.

So smart right?? ;)

Dunno the signboard has poor direction or just simply dreamy. At at signboard that points left, it has ECP Changi and ECP (AYE). So I turned lor.
Damn! It only goes to ECP Changi. hahaha

So no choice, exit at Rochor, and u-turn back into ECP to go back on my track.

Si beh blur siah.

Blackout!

Today our office area had blackout.
Started I think around lunch time, and was not recovered when it's time to go home even!

Not that it's a major problem for us, but we have a lady on wheelchair in our office.
The lift was not working, how can she go to level one then?

Being the nice man I am :P, and with the help of another man from a neighbour unit, we both carried her down while she sits on her wheelchair.
Have to ensure we carry in a more or less synchronise way, or else she might just fall forward if we tilted the wheelchair too much. Was worried more of that than anything else. :D
Another colleague of mine was just helping me take my umbrella, and take care of bags.

It's not too heavy to carry, of course not alone lah.
Still, as we go down the stairs, I felt the weight getting heavier. :P
Must tell her to lose weight liow. hahahaha

She's not the only person, we have another colleague who, although can walk, needs to use clutches to move around. Will probably be difficult for him to go down the stairs too.
Stairs can never be user-friendly to the physically impaired.

Hope tomorrow no more blackout. :)

Close down

The other called my sister Kelly to check on whether the shopowner called her regarding the noise issues.

Apparently, the shopowner called her to tell her that the neighbouring Karaoke singing school has moved out; and a new tenant would be coming in soon. This time, it should be some reflexology massage business. At least can't be that noisy now.

So all in all, Kelly is happier. She sms-ed me yesterday and said : "I very lucky hv a brother help me to settle thanksyou so much :)". Then I sms-ed her: "OK. Owe me 1 roti prata".
hahaha.

Good lah. 1 less problem now.

Death

The death of the work-stressed girl reminded me of a friend.

This friend of mine, Grace, was not stressed from work. On the contrary, she was beginning a whole new living in a foreign land, and when things seem to be going her way, she was diagnosed with incurable disease.
She died in 2004.

During the days fighting the disease, she managed to publish her own biography, and Straits Times did carry an article about her during that time.

Here's her blog should you feel interested to take a look:
http://dyingis.blogspot.com/

I bought her book as well, and it's now somewhere in my bookshelf.
If you want to read the book, feel free to let me know.

Work till Stress pulls you Apart

Happened to read this news today, about a girl working too stressfully, in the end, died of work stresss, although still under coroner's review.

The link is to the deceased's blog, and her last entry:
http://pinkmayflower.multiply.com/journal/item/140

From the internet, the company is HP, my previous company! Ah, am I lucky to quit there or wat?

But frankly speaking, one should learn to de-stress. Whatever it is, work, is just a small part of your life, and it's just work only.
Sometimes, a difficult decision is critical, such as 'to quit'. Think about what you want.

There's no need for me to quit now, I am ok with my simple work right now. :)

Vietnam 2007

Didn't really take a lot of pictures for this Vietnam Ho Chi Minh trip. Didn't separate the photos into different days.

Anyway, the link to the photos:
http://new.photos.yahoo.com/staykc_fun/album/576460762400056355

Not much stuff to take, the scenery not that great anyway.

Compare to Hanoi, we felt that Hanoi would be more interesting to visit. Ho Chi Minh's main attraction would be the Cu Chi Tunnels itself. Nevertheless, still quite an ok trip this time round!

HCMC Day4

Today is the last day at HCMC. Nothing on our list for anything to be done.

Apparently, it has been a big holiday season in Vietnam. Last Thursday was a holiday. Yesterday was its National Day, and today is Labour Day.
The hotel owner, who is a Singaporean, was at the hotel checking things. He told us of the long holiday season. No wonder there was celebration nearby yesterday night.
Also, today's breakfast was a little special as it moved from its restaurant to it's 12th Floor, and having a buffet.

So after breakfast, we just headed towards Ben Thanh area again. Karinna had wanted to buy some T-Shirts back, but in the end, empty-handed.

At least she met her ex-tuitionee's parents, talked a little, and probably she will email to check how her little student is doing. It's a small world sometimes, meeting familiar faces elsewhere and out of Singapore.

We went back hotel about 11+, took showers, and had to check out by 12noon, else there will be additional half-day charges. So being the nice guests, we do as we were told, and put our luggages under the hotel care and went out for a short walk.

Rather, we went for coffee, and then went for a quick lunch. We weren't hungry, so just had very little food during lunch time.

Then it's time to head to the airport, and bade our last farewell to the city area.
