大家说华语

In the late 70s and early 80s, Singaporean chinese speak their own dialects, and communications between different dialect groups can be problematic at times, although this allow people to be exposed and learn other dialects as well.

鸡同鸭讲 can be quite funny sometimes.

Then, the government decided to come up with the "Speak Mandarin Campaign", and TV was then not allowed to broadcast dialect shows anymore. That's when we cannot watch Hong Kong serials in Cantonese any longer, and they were all dubbed in Mandarin.

The "Speak Mandarin Campaign" came with the signature song, sung by the "不食人间烟火的" Tracy Huang!

Isn't it cool that people still managed to have this song somewhere?
